Softball completes perfect homestand with NAC doubleheader sweep of NVU-Johnson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University softball completed a perfect six game homestand on Sunday afternoon as they scored two run-rule victories over Northern Vermont University-Johnson at O'Keefe Field. The Eagles plated 19 runs in game one and 13 in game two while holding the Badgers scoreless through ten innings, With the victory, the Eagles have won five of their last six games via run-rule as they are 14-6 on the season and 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference play. Meanwhile for NVU-Johnson, they drop to 1-18 overall and 0-4 in the NAC.

Game one saw the Eagles take the lead two batters into the bottom of the first inning and they never looked back. Ten different players drove in runs for the Eagles including three from sophomore Olivia McCarty. Sophomore Kenzie Dore recorded three hits while every single batter scored at least a run for the Eagles in the victory. Sophomore Julia Gregoire recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI in the victory.

Junior McKenna Smith started for the Eagles in the circle and, like Saturday, she struck out all nine batters faced. Freshman Tatyanna Biamby was called from the bullpen and completed the one-hitter for the Eagles.

Game two was much of the same but the Eagles didn't open the scoring until four batters in the bottom of the first. Dore had herself a day in game two as she went 3-for-4 including two homers.

Biamby started the contest in the circle and she helped her cause with a three-run triple. In the circle, she allowed no hits in two innings before turning the ball over to graduate student Jen Jones who struck out five in three innings pitched.

It's back on the road for the softball team as they travel to New Hampshire on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Plymouth State at D&MPark with game one scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
