Box Score BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's lacrosse dropped its season opener 19-1 to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday at Boucher Field.
Saint Joseph's (3-0) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first quarter and tacked on six more goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 14-0 lead at the halftime break.
The Monks added three more third quarter scores to increase their deficit to 17-0 before junior Sophia Gomez broke Husson's (0-1) scoring drought with an unassisted goal.
St. Joe's added one more goal in the third and their final score in the fourth to pick up the 19-1 victory.
Junior Devyn Veits led the Eagles with four ground balls while freshman Emily Godfrey collected three scoops. Sophomore Abigail Booth recorded two caused turnovers and freshman Emma Begin finished with six saves net.
Husson returns back to action on Saturday when it travels to the University of Southern Maine with draw scheduled for noon.
