Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-9 contest to the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers on Saturday afternoon in their North Atlantic Conference opener at Boucher Field.
The Eagles (1-4, 0-1 NAC) had a quick start scoring the opening three goals in a five minute span as freshman Maddy Benoit scored twice followed by junior Sophia Gomez. The Beavers (1-4, 1-0 NAC) responded with three goals to end the quarter tied at three.
UMF continued their momentum scoring the first two goals of the second quarter before Gomez scored her second of the game as the Beavers led, 5-4, at the break.
In the third quarter, the Beavers scored the seven straight goals followed by Gomez and Benoit scoring their hat trick goals as UMF held a, 12-6, lead after three quarters.
Both teams scored three times in the fourth quarter as Gomez and Benoit each added their fourth of the game while junior Devyn Veits scored with under a minute to play as the Beavers won, 15-9.
Freshman Emma Begin started the contest playing three quarters as she made 13 saves before freshman Emily Godfrey took over and made a save in the fourth quarter.
It is back to non-conference play on Wednesday for the final time this season as the women's lacrosse team will travel to Castine to take on Maine Maritime Academy with the first draw control scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
