Box Score BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's lacrosse team gave up a second half lead as the Thomas College Terriers earned a 11-4 victory on Boucher Field on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Eagles (1-2) scored the lone goal in the first quarter as senior Devyn Veits tailed a goal late in the quarter from freshman Natalie Whitten. Whitten, with the assist, recorded her first collegiate point.
In the second quarter, Veits and freshman Maddy Benoit scored free-position goals in a two minute span then junior Sophia Gomez put home her second goal of the season as the Eagles led by four at the break. With the goal, Benoit opened her collegiate account.
The Terriers (1-2) halftime talk worked as they scored to begin the quarter. Husson's Gomez received her marching orders after her second yellow of the game and the Terriers took over the contest as they outscored the Eagles, 10-0.
Freshman Emma Begin earned the start in goal as she kept the Terriers scoreless in the first half with four saves before allowing five goals on ten shots faced in the first ten minutes in the third quarter. Freshman Emily Godfrey took over for Begin and made eight saves on 14 shots.
The women's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 26th when they host the University of Maine at Farmington for their North Atlantic Conference opener. The opening draw control is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
