Box Score GORHAM, Maine - The Husson University women's lacrosse team falls to 0-2 on the season after a 15-3 defeat to the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
The Huskies opened the contest scoring the first nine goals of the game. Junior Devyn Veits scored the first Eagles goal early in the second half for her first goal of the season then freshman Natalie Whitten scored her first collegiate goal as the Eagles trailed 13-2 at the half.
The Huskies outscored the Eagles 2-1 in the third quarter with the lone Eagles goal scored by Veits for her second of the game. Veits' goal ended up being the final goal of the game as weather didn't allow the fourth quarter to be played.
Freshman Emily Godfrey made the start in the cage for the Eagles making four saves while Emma Begin played the second half and made eight saves in the third quarter.
Next up for the squad is a non-conference matchup with the Terriers of Thomas College at Boucher Field with the game beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday.
