Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - Competing in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Championship, the top-seeded Husson University Eagles (25-1, 16-0 NAC) swept the second-seeded Thomas College Terriers (11-10, 10-6) to the final scores of 5-1, 4-2.
GAME ONE: Husson 5, Thomas 1
Getting on the scoreboard early, the Terriers' Madison Rock doubled down the left field line to score Bailey Dunphy in the top of the first inning. The Eagles responded with a run of their own as Sydney Ames led it off with a double. Stealing third base on the next pitch, Ames would score on Kenzie Dore's line drive through the left side to tie the ballgame.
Husson would take the lead in the third inning when a blooper single by Jen Jones scored Whitney Bess. In the next at-bat, Morgan Coleman ripped a single up the left side of the field, recording her 100th career hit as an Eagle.
The Terriers threatened in the fifth inning with two runners on base, but Jones controlled the jam, striking out the next three batters to preserve the Eagles' lead. Husson would use the momentum in the bottom half of the inning to score three times. Morgan Coleman crossed the plate on a Terrier error before Olivia McCarty drove in the final two runs of the game as the Eagles held on for the 5-1 victory.
IN THE CIRCLE:
- Jones pitched a complete game for the Green and Gold, allowing one run and striking out 13.
- Claudia Migliaccio pitched the first 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with one strikeout before giving way to Kelsey Currier to close the game.
- Currier gave up three runs on three hits, walking one batter and striking out seven.
OFF THE BAT:
- McCarty went 1-for-3 in game one, picking up two RBI on two hits.
- In three appearances at the plate, Rock went 1-for-3, recording the Terriers' lone RBI.
- In two at-bats, Jones recorded two hits and an RBI.
GAME TWO: Husson 4, Thomas 2
In the second game of the NAC East Championship series, the teams would remain scoreless through the first two innings. Husson got things rolling in the top of the third inning, taking a 1-0 lead as Sydney Ames doubled to right center to score Katie Windsor who reached on a bunt-single.
Maddy Fowler reached base on a Terrier error to lead-off the top of the fourth inning, advancing to third on a hard-hit single by Olivia McCarty. McCarty stole second on the next pitch to put both runners in scoring position. Reaching on a fielder's choice, Windsor would load the bases for the Eagles, but Thomas turned a double play to end the inning.
Opening the top of the fifth, Katie Raymond ripped a one-out single up the left side. In the next at-bat, Windsor sent a hard liner to shortstop, but Madison Rock was there to make a show-stopping grab and turn the double-play for the Terriers while holding the Eagles to just a one-run lead.
With two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Kenzie Dore reached on a single through the left side. Morgan Coleman picked up her first RBI of the series, scoring Dore on a deep single to right center field. Jen Jones lined a hard ball to right, scoring pinch runner Libby Hewes to extend the Eagles' lead to three. Pinch running for Jones, Husson would extend their lead as Teagan Blackie scored on a fielding error by the Terriers, taking a 4-0 edge into the bottom of the seventh inning.
In their last at-bat of the game, Kelsey Currier started the Terriers off with a single to left field. Rock blasted a hit to right field, reaching second and advancing Currier to third. With two runners in scoring position, MacKenzie Oberholzer ripped a shot to the gap in center field, scoring Currier and Rock and bringing Thomas within two, but that would not be enough as Husson sealed the 4-2 victory.
IN THE CIRCLE:
- For the Eagles, Ames pitched six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three.
- Jones pitched the final three outs of the game for Husson, striking out one and giving up just one hit.
- Kelsey Currier threw a complete game for the Terriers, giving up nine hits and allowing four runs while striking out five.
OFF THE BAT:
- In the batter's box, Ames went 1-for-4 for the Green and Gold, including an RBI double.
- Oberholzer was 1-for-3 for Thomas, batting in two runs in the loss.
- Dore recorded two hits in the game for the Eagles

Clinching the North Atlantic Conference East Division, the Husson Eagles will play the West Division winners for the NAC Championship. The series is scheduled for next weekend against the west host, Cazenovia College.
