Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BANGOR, Maine - Husson softball started North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action in the best way possible with a sweep of the University of Maine-Presque Isle Owls. The Eagles won the first game, 9-0 in five innings, and won the second game, 7-3. With the sweep the Eagles improved to 9-1 and 2-0 in conference play while the Owls fell to 1-5 and 0-2 in the NAC.

GAME ONE: Husson 9, UMPI 0

Game one saw the Eagles take charge offensively as they scored in every inning and defensively leaving the Owls scoreless. Jen Jones allowed just two base runners to get on in the five-inning victory.

Husson started the scoring off three batters in, as Kenzie Dore hit a single into center field to score Sydney Ames. Whitney Bess scored the next run as she beat the tag off a grounder from Morgan Coleman. Jen Jones rounded out the scoring as she helped her own cause with a ground out to second but scored Dore.

The Eagles added two runs in the bottom of the second as Dore drove in Ames and Katie Windsor on a double that cleared over the head of the center fielder.

In the third inning another run was tacked on by Husson with smart base running by Madelyn Fowler, putting herself in position to score, as Katie Raymond grounded out and drove her home.

The Eagles finished their scoring in the fourth with three additional runs. With the bases loaded, Katie Raymond hit a 2-run RBI single to left field to help the Eagles win game one, 9-0.

Jones struck out six as she pitched a complete shutout game, allowing just one hit to record her 5th win of the season. GAME TWO: Husson 7, UMPI 3

Game two was no different for the Eagles as they connected on two different times the bases were loaded in the first inning to score five runs. First, it was Morgan Coleman as she drove a hard shot through the right side to score two runs. Raymond capitalized with the bases loaded and drove in two runs herself with a single to center field. The Eagles were able to add another run thanks to an UMPI error in the outfield.

UMPI scored their first runs of the doubleheader in the top of the second and third inning as Jordan Hansen had a lead-off triple and the Owls were able to bring her home on an Anaiz Diaz single. In the third, Sarah Duncklee hit an RBI-triple then came home on a Hansen single down the right field line as the Owls cut the Eagles' lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, the Eagles scored a run as Raymond grounded out to second base, but Fowler was able to score on the play. The fifth inning saw Dore single to center to score Whitney Bess. A couple quick innings helps wrap up the game with another win for the Eagles, 7-3.
