Eagles Mount Second Half Comeback to Top Terriers, 8-6 on Senior Day

Box Score

BANGOR, Maine - Held scoreless in the first half, the Eagles (2-1, 2-1) scored eight goals in the second frame of play to take down the Terriers, (1-3, 1-2) 8-6, on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the contest, seniors Maddy Olsen, Riana Winslow and Mallory Burchill were honored for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program over the last four years.

IN THE ACTION:

The first 15 minutes of action remained scoreless with the two teams unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Rebecca Kennet would break the scoreless tie at 14:35 for the Terriers, dishing a pass to Autumn Howe on a free position attempt who shot it just past the reach of Burchill. Less than two minutes later, Howe would put the visitors up by two, earning a free position attempt. Despite Burchill making the initial save, Howe was able to tuck her rebound just past Burchill for the tally. Mackenzie Driscoll scored on a free position attempt to give the Terriers a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

Maddy Olsen would jumpstart the Eagles' offense in the second half of the game, first converting a free position attempt to put the home team on the board, before scoring her second goal of the game to cut Thomas' lead to one. Bradstreet tallied her second goal of the contest to push the Terriers ahead 4-2. Husson's Ashley Cummings responded with a hard shot that was deflected just past Terrier's netminder Arianna Cannistraro to bring the home team back within one. Sophia Gomez evened the game at four, recording her first goal of the contest with 13:11 remaining. Driscoll registered her second tally of the contest to push the Terriers ahead, 5-4.

The Eagles evened the score once more, as Mary Cushing dished a pass to Cummings who put the shot away to spur a four-goal run for the Green and Gold. With 5:08 left to play, Cushing scored the 50th goal of her career, giving the Eagles their first lead of the contest, 6-5. Devyn Veits would join in on the scoring action, before Cushing tacked on her second goal of the game to all but seal the win. Despite a last second goal from the Terriers, the home team held on for the victory, 8-6.
