Husson Dominates in Doubleheader Sweep of NVU-Lyndon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BANGOR, Maine - Kenzie Dore had a career day at the plate in game one, and Jill Bisson put on an impressive performance in the circle, earning her first career win in game two, as Husson University cruised to a pair of five-inning wins over Northern Vermont University-Lyndon at O'Keefe Field on Saturday.

GAME ONE: Husson 15, NVU-Lyndon 0

Husson set the tone early with a bang. After Sydney Ames singled to lead off the bottom of the first inning, Kenzie Dore belted the first home run of her career, deep over the centerfield fence as the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Husson then immediately loaded the bases when Morgan Coleman was hit by a pitch, Olivia McCarty walked, and Jill Bisson was hit by a pitch. Teagan Blackie's one-out grounder to third was fielded cleanly and fired home for the forceout, but the relay throw to first was high, and Coleman came in to score to make it 3-0 Husson after one.

The Eagles kept it going in the second, loading the bases again on singles by Katie Raymond and Ames, and a Whitney Bess hit by pitch. Kenzie Dore's drive to left got by the left fielder to bring in Raymond. Coleman followed with a grounder to third, and the throw home was off the mark, allowing Ames to score and giving Husson a 5-0 advantage. Bisson followed with a sacrifice fly to right to score Bess before the inning was over, as three more runs crossed the plate for Husson, extending the Eagles lead to 6-0.

Husson added five more runs in the third, led by an RBI triple from Dore, and a sac fly by Hannah Sibley, and tacked on four runs in the fourth, highlighted by Dore's RBI double off the top of the fence in left, as the Eagles cruised to a 15-0 win.

GAME TWO: Husson 11, NVU-Lyndon 0

The Eagles got everything they needed for a win in the first inning. Katie Raymond walked to lead off, Katie Windsor followed with a single to left, and a Whitney Bess RBI single to center brought Raymond in from second to jump-start Husson to a 1-0 lead. Kenzie Dore then reached on an infield error, allowing Windsor to score, making it 2-0 Eagles. Jill Bisson singled to score Bess, and Dore scored on a throwing error on Hannah Sibley's grounder as Husson pushed its lead to 4-0. Bisson would later score on a wild pitch, and Teagan Blackie brought in Sibley with a bloop hit to left center, extending the Eagles lead to 6-0. Raymond then made her second plate appearance of the inning, this time with the bases loaded, and drove in two more runs with a single to center. Windsor's second plate appearance netted another run with an infield single, as the Eagles widened their edge to 9-0. Husson would add two more runs before the inning ended, sending 16 batters to the plate on their way to an 11-0 lead after one.

The big first inning was more than enough for Husson pitcher Jill Bisson, who pitched five shutout innings in her first career start in the Eagles 11-0 win.
