BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University (19-9, 9-1 NAC) softball team sweeps a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader with the University of Maine at Presque Isle (15-13, 7-5 NAC), 9-1 (5 inn.), 5-1, at O'Keefe Field on Sunday afternoon.

GAME ONE - HUSSON 9, UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 1 in five innings

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first frame of the contest proved to be the busiest, as the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. Bri Brochu led off the inning with a single to centerfield and advanced to third after an UMPI throwing error, that allowed Chloe Gorey to reach second base before B. Brochu and Gorey scored on back-to-back RBI ground outs by Jen Jones and Morgan Coleman.

After two quick outs, Sarah Duncklee blasted a ball over the fence in left field, halving the Eagles lead with one swing of the bat.  The 2-1 score held up until the third when Husson plated three in their half of the inning.  Jones doubled home a run to make it 3-1, followed by a Coleman sac fly to center to score another and the third run coming home on Kylie Cunningham's 100th career hit, a single to left field.

Coleman added an RBI in the final inning, with Arika Brochu doubling in two more.  Whitney Bess hit a grounder to third and drove in the final run, bringing the final score to 9-1, Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
