Box Score BANGOR, Maine- The #1 Husson University softball team (18-13) beat #3 Castleton University Spartans (11-17) in Game 3 of the NAC Conference Tournament by the final score of 4-0 on O'Keefe Field on the campus of Husson University on Friday afternoon.
How it Happened:
Eagles scored their first run of the day in the top of the first as Bri Brochu (Pittston, Maine) scored on a wild pitch to give Husson a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles added three runs in top half of the sixth inning. Olivia Smith (Calais, Maine) had an RBI-double to score Brochu. Morgan Coleman followed that up with a groundout to first base but it allowed Chole Gorey (Scarborough, Maine) to score. Tamara Aunchman (Panton, Vt.) ended the scoring in the inning with a sacrifice fly to score Smith and make it 4-0 Eagles.
Jen Jones (Acton, Maine) had more than enough run support as she allowed three hits and struck out 11. It is Jones' 8th double-digit strikeout game.
