BANGOR, Maine- The #1 Husson University Softball Team (17-13) lost to the #4 Thomas College Terriers (20-15) by the final score of 2-0 in Game 1 of the NAC Conference Tournament at O'Keefe Field on the campus of Husson University on Friday morning.

How it Happened:

Thomas had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the third but Jen Jones (Acton, Maine) recorded a struck out then forced a ground out to first base and end the Terriers threat.

In the top of the fifth inning, Lexi Colpack with an RBI-single in shallow right field as Sam Coughlin comes home to score from second base. Anna Piirainen followed that up with an RBI-double down the left field line to score Colpack and give Thomas a 2-0 lead.

The two runs were all Katlyn Coulter (Jefferson, N.H.) needed as she held the Eagles offense to four hits on the morning.

Batters: Husson

• Bri Brochu (Pittston, Maine) with three hits.

• Chloe Gorey (Scarborough, Maine) with a hit.

Pitchers: Husson

• Jones (L, 12-7) pitched seven innings, gave up two runs on six hits, struck out four, and walked one.

Batters: Thomas

• Colpack with two hits, run scored, and an RBI.

• Piirainen with a hit and an RBI.

• Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine) with two hits.

Pitchers: Thomas

• Coulter (W, 12-3) pitched seven innings, allowed four hits, and struck out three.
