Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University Softball Team (15-12) spilt a non-conference doubleheader with in-state rival the University of Bates Bobcats (17-13) by the final scores of 10-5 and 0-6 on Monday afternoon at O'Keefe Field.
Game 1 Husson 10, Bates 5
How it Happened:
Bates started off the scoring in the first inning as Kristen Pelletier (Sidney, Maine) recorded an RBI-single to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles responded in the bottom of the inning with a home run by Morgan Coleman (Acton, Maine) to centerfield to score a pair of runs and give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats tied the game at two in the second inning as Erin Murphy (North Andover, Maine) scored on a fielding error.
The green and gold regained the lead as Coleman hit a RBI-single to make it 3-2. Paige Veilleux-Adams (Wilson, Maine) continued the scoring with a 2-run RBI-double to make it 5-2 after three innings of play.
In the bottom of the 4th, Olivia Smith (Calais, Maine) crushed a home run to centerfield to make it 6-2.
The Eagles added three runs in the bottom of the fifth as Madelyn Fowler (East Barre, Vt.) hit a 2-run RBI-double followed by a Corey Gorey (Scarborough, Maine) RBI-single to make it 9-2.
Bates cut the lead to 9-3 as Mary Collette (Watertown, Conn.) hit a RBI-double in the top of the sixth.
Husson added their final run of the first game in the bottom of the sixth as Shelby Burge lined an RBI-single to make it 10-3.
Bates added two runs in the top of the 7th as Tori Fitzgerald (Holliston, Mass.) and Caroline Bass (Newton, Mass.) each scored on pass balls, but the Eagles held on for a 10-5 victory.

How it Happened:
The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning as Panepinto hit a RBI-triple then Collett tallied an RBI-single to score Panepinto. Payton Buxton (Middlebury, Vt.) with a ground out to the shortstop to score Collett.
The Bobcats scored twice in the top of the fourth as Andrea Russo (Cheshire, Conn.) and Bass scored on a fielding error to make it 5-0.
Bates added a run in the fifth inning as India Woolmington (New York, N.Y.) scored on a fielder's choice to make it 6-0 Bates, which would be the final score.
