Box Score BANGOR, Maine—Husson (2-5, NAC 1-1) fell to St. Joseph's (Maine) (16-3, 9-0) 10-8 Wednesday night at Boucher Field.
The Eagles got off to a hot start, scoring just 52 seconds into the game with a goal from
Mariah Carrier to put Husson up 1-0.
Husson quickly capitalized on the momentum and added another goal two minutes later from
Kelsi Thibeau, but St. Joseph's matched it on an unassisted goal from Elyse Caiazzo, one of her seven goals on the day.
Husson would clap back with goals from
Amanda Deshaies and
Makenna Mont, yet St. Joseph's refused to go away and two more goals from Caiazzo kept the Monks within one.
The Eagles opened up a bit of lead towards the end of the second half on goals from Deshaies, Thibeau, and Kara Kelly and looked poised to be in good position going into the third quarter with an 8-5 lead.
Yet the second half proved to be all St. Joseph's. Caiazzo scored less than one minute into the third quarter and proceeded to score three more goals in a row, giving St. Joseph's a one-goal lead that they wouldn't relinquish. The Monks' defense toughened up and held Husson scoreless in the second half en route to their 10-8 win.
Eagles goalie
Kaitlin Dolloff made four saves on 14 shots, while St. Joseph's goaltender Kaylin Mansir stopped eight of the 16 shots she faced.
Husson will travel to Castleton State Sat. Apr. 8 as they look to get the ball rolling and pick up a conference win.
