Box Score 2 BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University softball team swept Lyndon State, 12-0 and 10-0, in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Harold Alfond Diamond at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
In a pregame ceremony senior's Nicole Andrade, Alannah Healy and Casey Lopes were all recognized for their contributions to the Husson softball program.
GAME 1: Husson 12, Lyndon State 0 in Five Innings
Husson (23-9, 8-0 NAC) scored all the runs they'd need in the first inning on route to a 12-0 victory in game one. Tamara Aunchman went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a three-run home run in the first inning and a double to the lead the Eagles' offense.
Brianna Brochu (two runs scored and a double), Chloe Gorey (two runs scored and a two-run inside the park homer run in the second), and Casey Heath (one run scored and one RBI) all had two hits for Husson in the win.
Husson also received RBI's from Casey Lopes, Nicole Andrade, Olivia Maynard and Olivia Smith.
Alannah Healy (7-2) earned the win inside the circle for the Eagles after yielding just two hits and punching out a career-high nine batters in five innings.
Shelby Sheridan (0-4) took the loss for Lyndon State (0-12, 0-4 NAC) after allowing 12 earned runs off 13 hits in four innings.
Kiya DeWitt and Alexis Madore each had a hit for the Hornets in the setback.
GAME 2: Husson 10, Lyndon State 0 in Five Innings
After scoreless first inning, the Eagles scored all the runs they'd need in the second inning in route to a 10-0 victory to sweep the doubleheader.
Jen Jones went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a walk and a two-run home run down the right field line in the third to lead the Eagles' offense in game two.
Arika Brochu (one run scored and a walk), Courtney McIntyre (three runs scored, a double and a walk), Nicole Andrade (two runs scored and a RBI) and Casey Lopes (one run scored, a RBI and a walk) had two hits in the win.
The Eagles also received RBI's from Briana Brochu and Chloe Gorey, while Kylie Kennedy was credit with a double.
Courtney McIntyre (6-0) earned the win inside the circle for Husson after allowing just three hits with two punch-outs in three innings. Alannah Healy pitched 1.1 innings in relief while fanning three. After Husson's head coach Terren Allen made a trip out to the circle to make three substitution changes, so her three senior players could leave to a standing ovation, Arika Brochu retired both batters she face with strikeouts to clinch the victory.
Charged with the loss for the Hornets was Kiya DeWitt (0-4) who went 4.0 innings inside the circle, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) off 12 hits, while walking six with one strikeout.
Hannah Choiniere and Brooke Dolloff accounted for all the Hornets hits in the setback.
The Eagles will return to action on the road for a non-conference double header at Bates on Tuesday, April 25. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Lyndon State travels to Castleton on Tuesday with a 3:30 p.m. start.
