Box Score BANGOR, ME – Leah Hibbad (Portsmouth, RI) scored twice in the first 12 minutes to lead the Husson University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Maine-Machias on Wednesday evening at Boucher Field. Husson is now 5-4-0 on the season while Maine-Machias is 4-4-0.
Hibbad notched her first tally of the night in the fifth minute and
Mollie Roy (Hermon, ME) followed that up with a goal of her own two minutes later.
Hibbad finished the scoring with her seventh goal of the season in the 12th minute with an assist courtesy of Sydney Costa (Acushnet, MA).
Anna Wolterbeek (Wells, ME) and Jess Poulin (Albion, ME) combined to stop all three shots they faced from the Clippers. Aisling Farragher-Gemma made 12 saves for Maine-Machias.
Husson outshot Maine-Machias 22-4 and had five corner kicks to one for the Clippers.
"Our mission was to come out strong tonight, and, with three goals in just over 10 minutes, we definitely achieved that," said Husson University head coach Carly Gettler. "We saw quality minutes from our bench tonight, with particularly notable performances from Shelby, Anna, and Aimee. We have good momentum right now and are looking to keep moving forward."
The Eagles return to the field on Saturday when they host Maine Maritime at 5 p.m.
