BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's soccer team continued its dominant stretch in North Atlantic Conference play with a commanding 7-0 victory over Thomas College on Wednesday afternoon at Smith Field.
The Eagles (11-5-1, 7-0-1 NAC) wasted no time setting the tone. Just over two minutes into the match, senior Addi Laslie netted her ninth goal of the season off an assist from senior Madison Higgins to give Husson a quick 1-0 lead. The attack stayed relentless, and in the 21st minute, junior Olivia Charles doubled the advantage after finishing a feed from freshman Thea Gerfen. Before halftime, sophomore Hailey Tarbox added her first of two goals on the day, converting a setup from sophomore Ella Hosford in the 40th minute to send Husson into the break up 3-0.
Husson's offensive surge rolled into the second half. Hosford tallied her third goal of the season in the 58th minute, assisted by freshman Eilidh Irons, before Tarbox struck again in the 71st minute with help from freshman Jillian Long and Hosford. Freshman Kennedy Freston and senior Marila Corletto each found the back of the net late — Freston in the 74th and Corletto on a penalty kick in the 85th — to close out the scoring.
The Eagles controlled play from start to finish, outshooting the Terriers (4-11-2, 3-4-1 NAC) 28-7 and holding an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
Goalkeepers senior Madison Weigler and freshman Gabriella Smith combined for the team's eighth shutout of the year, making four total saves.
The Eagles will wrap up their regular season on Saturday as they head to Maine Maritime Academy at 12 p.m. with a chance to lock up the conference's top spot in the upcoming postseason tournament.
