CASTINE, Maine — The Husson University women's soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 1-1 draw against Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.
After a scoreless opening half, sophomore Paige Dunn broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, putting the Eagles (11-5-2, 7-0-2 NAC) on top 1-0 with her fourth goal of the season on a free kick that snuck past the outstretched hands of the Maine Maritime (10-6-1, 6-2-1 NAC) keeper.
The Mariners found the equalizer six minutes later when Hadley Stoddard converted in the 75th minute to even the score at one apiece.
Husson controlled much of the match, outshooting Maine Maritime 23-6 and earning a decisive 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Dunn led the Eagles with six shots, while junior Olivia Charles added five, and senior Marila Corletto contributed three.
In goal, senior Madison Weigler made two saves over the full 90 minutes, anchoring a defensive unit that limited the Mariners to just three shots on target.
With the draw, Husson closes out the regular season with an overall record of 11-4-2 and an unbeaten mark of 7-0-2 in North Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles now turn their attention to the upcoming NAC postseason tournament, where they will enter as the No. 2 seed and host the winner of Maine Maritime and Thomas College on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field with the time to be announced.
