Box Score POULTNEY, VT – Husson women's soccer nabbed their first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon beating Green Mountain College 3-1.
In the battle of the Eagles, Husson quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Becca Jones (Newmarket, NH ) beat defenders for an unassisted goal.
Whitney Cross (Belfast, ME) grabbed the next goal for Husson in the 28th minutes for her own unassisted goal.
In the 2nd half Green Mountain Katrina Ellis-Ferrar chipped a pass ahead to Lauren Nesshoever to cut the Husson lead in half, but that would be the only scoring GMC would see on the afternoon.
Courtney Hill (Calais, ME) scored her third goal of the season when Cross found her for the score making it 3-1 Husson.
"Our goal today was to put together a team performance from start to finish, and we did it," said Head Coach Carly Gettler, "I'm proud of the level of intensity and composure we maintained throughout the game and it was great to see Becca, Whitney, and Courtney put away some fabulous goals."
Husson's Jess Poulin (Albion, ME) was strong in net stopping 3 shots to earn the win.
Husson who is now 3-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NAC will continue on their road trip as they travel to take on Castleton tomorrow at 2:30 PM.
