Women's Lacrosse Drops NAC Result to Chargers

Bangor, ME - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers (5-7, 3-1 NAC) were too much for the Husson Eagles (3-7, 1-3 NAC) to handle at Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon. Ashley Reis (Stowe, VT) scored five goals for Colby-Sawyer en route to a 20-12 North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse victory.

The game started off pretty evenly between the teams, as the Chargers went up 2-0 with goals from Laurel Bauer (Bradford, NH) and Sara Berry (Bowdoinham, ME). Husson's Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) responded with a goal off an assist from Michaela Bicknell (West Addison, VT). The Chargers got two more with goals from Bauer and Reis, and Husson responded again with another Bicknell goal to make it 4-2. The Eagles kept it close until 6-4 when Colby-Sawyer went on a 3-1 run and saw goals from Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, NH), Reis, and Bauer. Alissa Fallon (Kennebunk, ME) scored one for Husson to bring it to 9-5 at the half.

The Chargers went up 15-7 in the second half before Emily Child (Mexico, ME) responded with a man-up goal and Nicole Connolly (Manchester, NH) scored another in the next minute. Fallon and Stauffer scored two more in response to Carly Baker's (Beverly, MA) goal for the Chargers to bring it to 16-11. Colby-Sawyer took control to earn the win with goals from Whearty, Reis, and two from Kylie McDonnell (Quechee, VT).

Husson coach Jen Johnstone said of the team's performance, "we fought hard and kept pace with a very strong program today. We really stepped up in the second half, improved our draw controls, and showed how strong we can be in transition."

Bauer recorded four goals and an assist on the day for the Chargers, and Berry and Whearty both tallied three goals. Fallon was the high-scorer for the Eagles with three goals and an assist, while Bicknell added two goals and an assist of her own.

Husson's goalkeeper Chelsea Kondratowicz (Kingston, NY) made 13 saves on 33 shots for Husson. Karley Hamilton (Bradford, VT) recorded four saves on 15 shots for Colby-Sawyer, and Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, NH) made no saves and faced one shot.

The Eagles will host Castleton in a 2 PM game on Sunday. Colby-Sawyer will next play Green Mountain on April 17.
