Newton, MA - Husson's men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Rhode Island College in the opening match of the Lasell tournament on Saturday. In an otherwise evenly matched, highly competitive contest, RIC forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI) scored a late goal in the 73rd minute off an assist from Brian Sujecki (Pawcatuck, CT) that proved to be the game winner. Husson took 10 shots in the match, including three by sophomore Phil Frost (Bangor, ME).

Senior goalkeeper Mason Smith (Houma, LA) made 6 saves, while his counterpart from RIC, Christopher Duarte (Cumberland, RI), was called upon to make 2.

Coach Jeff Gettler said of the match, "our youthfulness showed today, as did our lack of experience. Our mentality was shaky--as the game got tough we weren't calm and composed, and we got down on ourselves. We didn't do the things we needed to do."

The Eagles will face Hunter College in the consolation match at 12 PM on Sunday.
