Box Score Nashua, NH- Husson Men's Soccer shutout Rivier University 2-0 Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup at Raider Field; closing out their regular season with a record of 13-4 overall, and 8-1 in NAC play.
Both teams remained scoreless for the first 37 minutes of the game. In the 38th minute, Husson sophomore Patrick Van Dessel (Dover, NH) buried a header past Rivier senior goaltender Matthew St. Peter (Colchester, VT) off a perfect cross from Taylor Wentworth (Ellsworth, ME) who lifted the ball just outside the 18.
Eagles senior James Crockford (Watford, England) put Husson up 2-0 when he drilled a shot into the far corner of the net in the 71st minute.
Husson senior goalkeeper Mason Smith (Houma, LA) made saves on all three shots he faced to earn the win in net, including a point blank shot from sophomore Bryar King (Berlin, NH) late in the second half.
"We were able to play all 22 players tonight and spread minutes around with the NAC Playoffs beginning Saturday. Everybody contributed in the performance and in helping Mason get the shutout." Said Coach Jeff Gettler after the win.
Husson Men's Soccer finished Second Overall in the NAC and will host Lyndon State Saturday, October 27th. Game time TBD.
