Eagles and Bobcats Battle to Split

Husson University split with Bates College in a rescheduled double header at Husson's O'Keefe Field.  The Eagles dropped game one to the Bobcats 7-2 and claimed the second game 2-1.  With the split, the Eagles improve to 25-16 as they await their seeding for the NCAA Tournament.  Bates ends the day with a 13-13 mark.

Bates jumped out to an early two run lead in the top of the first inning off an error and a double to left center by Monica Berube.  The Bobcats tacked on three additional runs in the top of the third inning a two RBI single by Leah Maciejewski and a double to left field by Anna Marie Martino.   Berube tripled to right field in the top of the seventh inning to give the Bobcats another Run and Martino hit an RBI single up the middle.  Husson battled in the bottom of the seventh with RBI singles by Courtney Hill and Aimee Mortensen but the Eagles could not overcome the run deficit and the game ended with a 7-2 score.

Maciejewski powered the Bobcats, hitting 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBI's.  Hill led the Eagles with one run and scored and one RBI.

Kristen Finn earned the win for 6.1 inings of work that allowed one run, seven hits, and two walks.  Husson's Kody Lyon shouldered the loss  for her 2.2 innings of work that allowed five hits and five runs.

The Eagles reached the scoreboard first in the second inning of game two when Lona Sargent scored off a Bates error.  The Bobcats immediately responded in the top of the third inning with an RBI bunt single by Kelly McManus.  An Aimee Mortensen RBI single to right gave Husson the go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning.   Husson and Bates exchanged two more scoreless innings until the game was called due to darkness after the bottom of the fifth inning.

Karen Ullmann hit 2-3 while McManus contributed Bates' only run of game two.  Husson's Courtney was 1-2 with one RBI while Sargent hit 1-2 with one run scored. 

Kelly Naegelin earned the win for five innings of work that included one strikeout, four hits and one run allowed.  Caroline Gattuso received the loss for five innings of work that allowed three hits, two runs and two strikeouts.
