Eagles Win NAC East Championship

The Husson University Eagles claimed their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Championship with a 15-6 win over the University of Maine at Farmington.  Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was named the tournament's most valuable player, tallying nine goals and three assists in the championship.  With the win the Eagles improve to 10-1-1 while the Beavers end their season at 4-7.  The Eagles, ranked first in the NCAA in scoring defense and groundballs, will travel to Green Mountain College to compete against the NAC West Division champion on May 1.

The Beavers stated the scoring 5:37 into the first half when Jessica Allen (Sr., Mexico, ME) recorded an unassisted goal.  Husson's Bradford answered with a score and spurred on a four goal spree by the Eagles.  U. Maine Farmington's  Anna Rerrick (Fy., South Portland, ME) and Allen tallied goals to bring the score to 4-3 with Husson in the lead.  The Eagles collected additional goals to end the second half with a 7-3 lead.

Ten seconds into the second half, Meg Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME) scored an unassisted goal.  Maine Farmington's Aime Daniels (So., Lewiston, ME) contributed two second half goals but the Beavers could not overcome the deficit.  The game would end with a 15-6 Husson win.

In goal for the Beavers, Andrea Knox made 18 saves on 33 shots.  Allen contributed three goals while Daniels recorded 2 on the loss.

Husson's Kristen Capen (Fy., Leeds, ME) recorded 2 saves in 30 minutes of play while Nikki Burns (So., South Berwick, ME) made one save in her 30 minutes of play.  Bradford led the goal scoring with 6 goals and 1 assist followed by Alex Laniewski (So., Scarborough, ME) who collected 4 goals on the win.
