Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Thomas College 22-4 in
the opening round of North Atlantic Conference East division
semifinal action at Husson's Boucher field to advance to the
NAC East division championship. With the win, the Eagles
improve to 10-1-1 while the Terriers end their season at
3-10. The Eagles will face the # 2 seed U. Maine at
Farmington Beavers in the championship game on Sunday, April 25 at
Husson's Boucher Field. Game time is set for 1:00.
Jami Ladd (So., Barre, VT) tallied the first goal of the day for
the Eagles off a free position shot 2:33 into the first half
followed by a goal by Meg Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME).
Thomas answered with goals by Megan Denby (Jr., Copiague, NY) and
Kiley Jolicoeur (Jr., Oakland, ME) to knot the score at 2-2.
The Eagles would go on an 11 goal scoring spree until Jolicoeur
scored with 2:46 left in the half. The first half ended with
a 15-3 Husson lead.
Meg O'Neil (Fy., Hartfield, VT) opened the second half
with a goal that was assisted by Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee,
ME). The Eagles would continue to pull away in the second
half to end the game with a 22-4 victory.
Thomas' Jolicoeur recorded a hat trick, contributing three
of Thomas' four goals on the day. Goalkeeper Teshia
Cates (Fy., Skohegan, ME) recorded 20 saves on 42 shots on goal for
the Terriers.
Clement led the Eagles with 6 goals and one assist, followed by
Ladd who netted 5 goals on the win. In goal, Nikki Burns
(So., South Berwick, ME) recorded 3 saves on 7 shots on goal.
