Bangor, ME – Husson University dropped two losses to Bowdoin College in the Eagle's home opener.  The Bobcats won the first game 9-2 and the second 8-0 for the sweep.  Following today's losses, Husson falls to 2-10 while the Bobcats improve to 13-5.

 In the first inning, Hillary Smyth (So., Hollis, NH) doubled down the left field line to plate two runs for the Bobcats and Gen Barlow (Fy., Norwich, CT) hit an RBI triple to give Bowdoin an early 3-0 lead.  The Eagles responded in the bottom of the first with an RBI groundout by Nicole Sargent (Jr., Sullivan, ME).

 Bowdoin's Lauren Coven (Sr., Ridgewood, NJ) hit a two run homerun that stayed just fair of the left field foul pole in the third inning.  The Polar Bears would tack on additional runs in the fourth and fifth innings to bring the score to 8-1.  Husson answered with a fifth inning score when Kristen Sousa hit a laser at shortstop, plating Jaime Milton (Jr., Howland, ME).  The Polar Bears scored their final run in the top of the seventh inning to claim the 9-2 win.

 Kaity Sansone (Fy., Glen Gardner, NY) collected the win for Bowdoin while Husson's Kody Lyon (Fy., LaGrange, ME) was credited with the loss.

 In the second game, Bowdoin scored three second inning runs off a Coven RBI single and an RBI double by Smyth.  Bowdoin collected 5 additional runs in the sixth starting with an RBI triple for Barlow. Courtney Coluntuno (So., Marblehead, MA) collected an RBI double followed by another RBI double to center field by Smyth.  The Polar Bears would end the game with an 8-0 win. 

 Bowdoin's Tricia Thibodeau (Fy., Cape Elizabeth, ME) earned the win, collecting 6 strike-outs in 5 innings.  Husson's Nicole Sargent was credited with the loss.

 Bowdoin's Smyth went 5-8 at the plate and tallied 4 RBI's on the day.  Sousa was 3-7 for the Eagles with one RBI.

 Bowdoin returns to action on April 2 against Tufts.  Husson faces the University of Southern Maine on April 1.
