Box Score Framingham, Mass. — Behind six goals from sophomore Kerry
Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.), the Framingham State College
women's lacrosse team picked up their second victory of the
season this afternoon with a 14-8 victory over Husson University in
non-conference action at Framingham's Maple Street Field. The
Rams are now 2-0 on the season, while the Eagles are
1-1-1.
Kiley led all scorers with her six goals as she converted on all
six of her shot attempts in the game including two free position
shots. Senior Ashley Noonan (Mansfield, Mass.) picked up four
goals in the game and leads the Rams with nine goals through two
games. Junior Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, Mass.) added
three goals, while freshman Chelsea Temple (Rutland, VT) chipped in
one goal. Junior Melissa Price (Norwood, Mass.) picked up two
assists in the game, while Elizabeth Zaino (Holliston, Mass.) added
one helper.
Husson University was led by freshman Michelle Rancourt
(Lewiston, ME) and sophomore Jami Ladd (Berlin, VT) who picked up
three goals apiece, while Megan Clement (Brunswick, ME) and Kim
Gambon (Walpole, Mass.) each chipped in a goal and an assist.
The Rams took control of the game early as Kiley scored just 19
second into the contest to put the Rams on top for good.
Framingham State would push their lead to 5-0 just under 14 minutes
into the game, before Rancourt scored her first of the game to put
Husson on the board.
The Rams would add two shorthanded goals as Kiley scored at
20:06 and Noonan scored at 20:45, before Rancourt scored with just
under a minute to play in the half sending the game to the break
with the Rams leading 7-2.
Husson's offense came alive in the opening minutes of the
second half as they scored three goals in the first five minutes to
cut into the Rams lead. The Rams responded with two goals of
their own at 38:07 and 39:38 to take a 10-5 lead. The two
teams traded goals over the next ten minutes and the Rams added two
more in the final ten minutes of play to reach the final margin of
14-8.
Freshman goalie Kelsey Turner (Billerica, Mass.) made 15
saves in the game and picked up her second win in net for the
Rams. Junior Nikke Burns (South Berwick, ME) started for
Husson making two saves before being replaced by freshman Kristen
Capen (Leeds, ME) who made 10 saves.
Husson travels to Regis on Sunday at 11 a.m.
