Box Score BANGOR, ME – Today's men's soccer match-up between Husson
University and Castleton State ended  with a 3-0 Castleton
victory.
The game started off with Husson goalie Mason Smith (SO, Houma,
LA) making a ridiculous diving save that kept Castleton off of the
scoreboard, but only for a few minutes.
In the 18th minute, Castleton's Trevor Kotrady (SO,
North Clarendon, VT) received a pass from Josh Costa (SR, Sutton,
MA) that allowed him a 1-on-1 opportunity with goalie Smith.
Kotrady scored, but was immediately yellow carded for taunting
Smith.
In the 26th minute, Costa was on the scoring end of
things when he received a cross from Nick Johnas (JR, Niskayuna,
NY) and headed the ball past Smith.  Castleton scored again on
a header in the 60th minute, this time Jacob Ferry (JR,
Warwick, RI) crossing the ball to Ian Hunter (SO, Ellington,
CT).
Castleton State dominated the shot count 26-6, and also won the
corner kick count 6-4.
“Castleton was just the better team,” said Husson
head coach Jeff Gettler.  “They out-played us in most
phases of the game.  We tried hard and put in a good
effort.  We can only hope to get into the playoffs and get
another shot at them.”
Castleton's record improves to 10-5 and they will play their
next game at home against Plymouth State on Wednesday, October
20.
Husson falls to 2-11 on the year, and will play their next match
October 20 at home against Bates.
