Box Score BANGOR, ME – The sun finally started to show on a rainy
and cloudy day before the Husson University men's soccer team
took on the Green Mountain Eagles.  Husson won in a rout,
5-1.
Husson overcame the 16 offside calls called against them to
score 5 goals in the match.  They led 4-1 at the half, getting
their first goal from Tyler Metevier (JR, Kittery, ME) in the
4th minute assisted by Brian Loiselle (FY, Bangor,
ME).  Loiselle scored the next goal off of a pass from Matt
Moore (SO, Augusta, ME) who received a good ball from Ethan Qualey
(SO, Benedicta, ME) in the 11th minute.
Green Mountain's Deng Deng (SR, New York, NY) scored their
only goal to make it 2-1 when he headed in a free kick that bounced
off of the crossbar and off of Husson goalie Mason Smith's
head.
Husson scored two more goals in the first half.  In the
23rd minute, Greg Dawson (JR, St. Andrews, Scotland)
received a through pass from Loiselle and dribbled it all the way
up-field to make it 3-1.  Then, in the 43rd minute,
Moore scored on a penalty kick to make it 4-1.
Only one goal was scored in the second half, and it came from
Husson's Dawson after receiving a pass from Metevier in the
47th minute.
Husson Head Coach Jeff Gettler said, “Scoring goals was
great.  It was unfortunate that [Green Mountain] scored off of
that free kick.  This win was a step forward for us, and any
step forward is a good thing.”
Husson more than doubled Green Mountain's shot count,
tallying 20 to Green Mountain's 9.  Husson also had 7
corner kicks, while Green Mountain had 3.
Husson will play their next game against Castleton State at home
tomorrow, October 17th.  Green Mountain will play
their next match tomorrow as well, against Maine Maritime
Academy.
