Box Score 2 Henniker, N.H. – New England College softball dropped two
games to the visiting Husson College Eagles Thursday afternoon,
falling 1-8 in game one and dropping game two 2-8. With the two
wins the Eagles improved to 7-11 on the season, while the losses
drop the Pilgrims to 7-11 overall.
In game one the tow teams would battle scoreless through the
opening two innings before Husson would explode for six runs on
three hits to jump out to the 6-0 lead. The Pilgrims would grab a
run in the home half of the sixth inning as Kristen Purdy (Candia,
N.H.) would single in Alexandria Sacco (Tewksbury, Mass.) cutting
the Eagle lead to 6-1. Husson would get the run back plus plate an
additional run in the seventh and hold NEC scoreless in the home
half of the inning eventually cruising to the 8-1 victory.
Leading the way for Husson was Dorothy Cameron (S. Plainfield,
N.J.) who had two hits and scored a run. Husson's Jamie
Milton (Howland, Maine) and Diann Ramsey (Otisfield, Maine) would
each homer for the Eagles and Caitlin LeBorgne (Scarborough, Maine)
would double in two runs. Picking up the win on the mound for
Husson was Megan Richard (Wilton, Maine) who allowed just six
hits.
Leading the way for NEC was Stephanie Freitag (Lakeville, Mass.)
who finished with two hits.
In game two Husson would score three runs in the second and tack on
four in the fourth building the 7-1 lead. The two teams would
exchange runs in the sixth but the Eagle pitching would hold the
Pilgrims to just four hits, capturing the 8-2 victory.
Leading the way for Husson in game two was Caitlin LeBorgne who
finished with two hits and two runs scored. Husson's Dorothy
Came finished with two runs batted in and Kristen Sousa (Detriot,
Maine) hit three runs in for the Eagles. Picking up the win on the
mound for the Eagles was Caitlin LeBorgne who pitched the complete
game allowing just two earned runs on four hits.
Leading the was for NEC was Deanna Brayton (Queensbury, N.Y.) who
hit a solo homerun and Sierre Thibeault (Brunswick, Maine) who
singled in a run for the Pilgrims.
