Bangor, ME -   Husson University defeated Castleton
State College 3-1 to claim the 2009 North Atlantic Conference Men's
Soccer Championship.  With the win, Husson will advance the
NCAA tournament.   Miguel Dominguez (Jr., Rome, GA) was
named the most valuable player for the 2009 NAC Tournament.
Thirty seconds into the first half, Husson's first shot of the
game resulted in a goal by Gavin Madden.  Madden was assisted
by Justin Gauvin (Sr., Woolwich, ME).  Castleton answered with
a goal of their own with 4:30 left in the first half. 
Castleton's Jacob Roswell (Fy., White River Jct., VT) netted the
goal after collecting Corey Robbins' (Sr., Barre, VT) rebounded
shot in the Husson goal box.  Castleton and Husson would enter
halftime tied at 1-1.
At the 66:37 minute mark, Husson was awarded a penalty
kick.  Alex Martin (So., Van Buren, ME) scored off of a
low-left shot to give Husson a 2-1 lead.   Ten minutes
later, Husson's John DeSteffano (Fy., Auburn, NH) scored off of a
set piece that was taken by James Crockford (Fy., Watford, England)
to bring the score to 3-1. 
Castleton's goalkeeper, Mike Anthony (Sr., Dartmouth, MA) made a
tremendous second half diving save on James Crockford's shot to
keep the Spartans hopes alive (Fy., Watford, England). 
Husson's Miguel Dominguez (Jr., Rome, GA) also made a huge late
second half save deflecting a Nick Johnas (So., Niskayuna, NY)
header off of Greg Klopfer's (Sr., Voorheesville, NY) corner
kick.  On the day, Anthony tallied 8 saves on 19 shots while
Dominguez recorded 11 saves on 19 shots.
