No. 20 softball sweeps NAC major awards, earns record nine all-conference selections

WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference announced its major award winners and all-conference recipients for softball on Thursday and the Husson University softball team swept the major awards for a second time in program history and earned a program record nine all-conference selections.

Junior Ana Lang was named pitcher of the year for a second time in her career, in addition to being the eighth-consecutive Husson pitcher to earn the award, while also earning all-conference first team honors. Lang has amassed one of the most dominant pitching seasons in the country and Husson softball history. Making 27 appearances and 21 starts in her junior campaign, Lang has totaled a 0.63 ERA, which ranked third in the nation headed into the final week of the season. Lang has hurled 133.1 innings this season, having struck out a Division III leading 234 batters, while pitching 16 complete games and seven shutouts on the year. Having totaled a 20-3 record heading into the postseason, Lang has recorded a 0.71 WHIP, as opponents have recorded just 13 extra-base hits off of her this season and batted just .139. The junior right-hander has also recorded four saves, as she has posted 11 games with 10 or more strikeouts this season, including four games of at least 13 punchouts and a career-high 17 strikeouts happening on Apr. 25 against SUNY Cobleskill. Lang has been named NAC pitcher of the week five times and MCBSA pitcher of the week four times this season, in addition to earning the Division III Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week once. Lang has set the Husson single-season and career record for saves this year, while also matching the single-season record for wins and is currently on pace to break the single-season record for strikeouts, ERA and WHIP.

Junior Camryn King became Husson's third-straight player of the year selection, in addition to the fourth in the past five seasons, while also being named to the all-conference first team as an outfielder. King has put together one of the most well-rounded seasons in Husson softball history, displaying both power and speed, while playing an exceptional center field. King leads the Eagles with a .445 batting average, which ranks third in the NAC, while also boasting a team-high .551 on-base percentage, a .736 slugging percentage and a 1.287 OPS. King has recorded 13 doubles, a co-NAC high five triples and three home runs, while driving in 33 runs and scoring a conference-high 47 runs. King has set the Husson single-season record for stolen bases, as she has posted a 47-50 clip on stolen bags, while also tallying 22 walks and five hit by pitches. King was named NAC player of the week twice during the season.

Freshman Sophia Lynch was selected as rookie of the year and was named to the all-conference first team. Lynch has come on strong since taking over as the primary second basemann for the Eagles. A 2x NAC rookie of the week honoree, Lynch as posted a .379 batting average, including a .500 clip in NAC contests. Lynch as recorded five doubles and a team runner-up four home runs, while driving in 16 runs and scoring 19 herself. Lynch has posted a .488 on-base percentage, a .636 slugging percentage and a 1.124 OPS. The freshman infielder has also drawn 14 walks to just seven strikeouts, while also converting on 8-11 stolen base attempts.

Senior Morgan Tainter picked up an all-conference first team spot, while also being named senior scholar athlete. Tainter has been a rock behind the plate for Husson in its dominant season in the NAC. Tainter has posted a .366 batting average, in addition to a .518 slugging percentage, a .390 on-base percentage and a .908 OPS. Tainter has recorded six doubles, one triple and three home runs on the year, while driving in 41 runs and scoring 26 runs. The veteran backstop has posted seven walks and recorded a perfect 6-6 clip on stolen bases, while being named NAC player of the week twice on the year.

Tainter has distinguished herself as one of the premier student-athletes at Husson University, exemplifying excellence in the classroom, on the field, and within the community. A Criminal Justice major pursuing both her bachelor's degree and a master's in Criminal Justice Administration, Tainter has achieved an outstanding 3.87 GPA while consistently earning recognition on the President's List and as a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society. A leader for the Husson softball program, Tainter has made a lasting impact as a team captain during the 2025–26 season, while also serving as the team's representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Her commitment to academic and athletic excellence is further reflected in her multiple selections to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Academic Team from 2022–2025, as well as being honored with the 2026 Softball Eagle Award. Beyond athletics and academics, Tainter has demonstrated a strong dedication to her field of study through her involvement in Husson's Cold Case Initiative. Selected to collaborate with the Maine State Police and the Maine Attorney General's Office, she worked alongside a small group of students to review cold cases, analyze evidence, and contribute to investigative strategies. This experience highlights her professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Tainter has also developed valuable leadership and communication skills through her professional experiences, including her ongoing role as a senior staff member at The Catching Camp and her work as a front-of-house manager. In these positions, she has demonstrated a strong ability to mentor others, manage responsibilities, and create positive environments for both customers and young athletes.

Senior Lydia Rice also earned an all-conference first team selection and has had a standout senior season at the plate for Husson, showcasing a newfound power bat that has elevated the Husson offense. Rice posted a .429 batting average, while slugging .786, in addition to a .529 on-base percentage and a 1.315 OPS. The veteran shortstop has posted eight doubles, three triples and seven home runs this year, while also driving in 27 runs and scoring 33 times herself. Rice has totaled a 3-4 clip on stolen bases while adding 13 walks and eight hit by pitches, in addition to striking out just five times on the year. Rice has posted three two-home run games and has been named NAC player of the week once and Maine College Baseball and Softball Association player of the week once during the year.

Junior Sierra Yates picked up the final all-conference first team nod for the Eagles. Yates has been a solid option in the circle for the Eagles, posting a 6-1 record in 11 appearances and eight games started. The junior has posted a 1.27 ERA, while not having allowed a run in 11 innings pitched in conference games. Overall, Yates has pitched 44 innings, totaling 36 strikeouts and three complete games, in addition to one shutout, as opponents have hit just .211 against her for the year, including .132 in conference games. Yates has not allowed an extra-base hit in conference play, while surrendering just six extra-base knocks overall.

Freshman Jetta Shook was one of the three Eagles to earn a spot on the all-conference second team. Shook put together a strong first season in the green and gold, playing corner infield and DP for the Eagles. Shook totaled a .352 batting average, a .410 on-base percentage, a .479 slugging percentage and a .889 OPS. The right-handed hitter totaled six doubles and one home run, while driving in 16 runs and scoring 23. Shook drew six free passes, was hit by one pitch and converted on 2-2 stolen base attempts. She was tabbed NAC rookie of the week once on the year.

Sophomore Allie Casavant was tabbed a second team all-conference selection after she stepped up into a starting role as the primary right-fielder for the Eagles during her sophomore season. Finishing with a .315 batting average, a .392 on-base percentage, a .539 slugging percentage and a .931 OPS, Casavant provided a steady bat in the middle of the Husson order. Casavant totaled nine doubles, one triple and three home runs on the year, while driving in 24 runs and scoring 29 times herself. Casavant also tallied 11 walks, one hit by pitch and a 3-4 rate on stolen bases.

Senior Morgan Curtis was the final all-conference second team member for Husson. Curtis has turned into a steady-handed third baseman and the ultimate team-player at the top of the batting order for Husson. Batting .284, including .316 in conference games, Curtis has totaled a .438 on-base percentage, a .365 slugging percentage and a .803 OPS. Curtis has posted six doubles on the year, driving in 22 runs and scoring 19 times, while drawing four walks and a Husson single-season record 17 hit by pitches, in addition to being a perfect 10-10 on stolen bases.

Additionally for the Eagles, junior Jazmin Johnson was selected to the sportsmanship team.
