WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference named its weekly awards for women's lacrosse on Monday and Husson University women's lacrosse senior Laela Martinez was named defensive player of the week.

Martinez earns her third defensive player of the week award after she finished off a tremendous regular season for the Eagles with another stout week of defense in Husson's two NAC wins. Martinez recorded two caused and two ground balls, in addition to two draw controls, two goals and three assists in a win over UMaine Farmington. Martinez concluded her week with four caused turnovers, nine ground balls and two draw controls against Thomas, while also scoring three goals. Additionally, Martinez became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers in the win over Thomas.

The Eagles turn their attention to the NAC championship game on Saturday, where they will host #2 Maine Maritime Academy at 4 p.m.
