JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – The Husson University men's golf team opened play at the 53rd Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate on Friday at the Paradise Point Gold Championship Course.

After the first round, the Eagles sit in 21st place out of 24 teams with a score of 313 (+25) on the par-72, 6,881-yard layout.

Husson was led by an outstanding opening round from junior Ty Dickson, who fired a two-under-par 70 to sit tied for sixth overall in a competitive field of more than 100 golfers. Dickson's round places him just three shots off the individual lead and among the top performers heading into day two.

Behind Dickson, junior Juan Carlos Hernandez turned in a solid round of 77 (+5), finishing tied for 70th. Junior Jace Cook followed with an 82 (+10), while freshman Michael Bruce carded an 84 (+12). Junior Bradley Chisholm rounded out the Husson lineup with an 85 (+13).

At the top of the individual leaderboard, Dylan Zhang of Swarthmore College and Daniel Donahue of John Carroll University share the lead after each posted rounds of 67 (-5). McDaniel College's Dylan Muso sits in third at 68 (-4).

As a team, Husson finds itself within reach of several programs in the middle of the standings heading into Saturday's second round, with opportunities to climb the leaderboard over the final 36 holes.

The tournament continues Saturday with round two, followed by the final round on Sunday.
