WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference selected its weekly award winners for women's lacrosse on Monday and Husson University senior Laela Martinez and freshman Shannon McDonough were honored.
Martinez earned defensive player of the week after she played a crucial role for Husson in a 1-0 week of action that saw the Eagles earn a dominant 15-2 victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Martinez posted a team-high four caused turnovers, while also adding four ground balls, in addition to two draw control wins and a goal and two assists on offense for Husson.
McDonough was chosen as rookie of the week after she recorded a goal on offense, while forcing two turnovers and adding two ground balls on defense in the win.
Additionally for Husson, senior Averi Baker was named to the weekly honor roll for her efforts.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday when they host Thomas College at 1 p.m. in their NAC opener.
