BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Massachusetts Maritime Academy by a 15-2 final in non-conference action at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Husson (4-2) controlled the game from the opening draw and never looked back, outscoring the Buccaneers (0-6) 7-1 in the first quarter and maintaining steady offensive pressure throughout the contest. The Eagles held advantages in shots (36-5), ground balls (42-27), and draw controls (15-4), showcasing a complete effort on both ends of the field.

The Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as senior Madison Lower opened the scoring with a man-up goal at the 9:56 mark of the first quarter off an assist from senior Laela Martinez. Just over a minute later, sophomore Adella Mabee doubled the lead, finishing a feed from senior Averi Baker to make it 2-0.

Husson continued to pour it on midway through the opening frame. Martinez converted a man-down goal off another Baker assist, followed by sophomore Kate Boehmcke finishing a setup from Martinez to push the lead to 4-0. After Massachusetts Maritime briefly got on the board, the Eagles responded with three goals in the final two minutes of the quarter. Sophomore Reese Sullivan scored off a Lower assist, Lower added her second of the game on an individual effort, and Baker capped the quarter with a man-down tally to give Husson a commanding 7-1 lead after one.

The Eagles continued their momentum in the second quarter, as Baker scored early in the period before freshman Shannon McDonough found the back of the net off a Boehmcke assist, extending the advantage to 9-1 heading into halftime.

Husson kept control in the third quarter behind Boehmcke, who scored twice in under a minute, including a free-position goal, to stretch the lead to 11-1. After the Buccaneers added their second goal, freshman Amelia Saunders answered with a goal off an assist from freshman Ella Duchette to make it 12-2 entering the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles closed out the game with three more goals. Boehmcke completed her four-goal performance with another finish off a Sullivan assist, while Sullivan added back-to-back goals—both assisted by freshman Emma Webster—to seal the 15-2 victory.

Boehmcke led the offense with four goals and an assist, while Sullivan added three goals and two assists. Baker and Lower each contributed two goals, with Baker also dishing out two assists. Martinez totaled three points with a goal and two assists, and Webster recorded a pair of assists.

Husson was active across all facets of the game defensively and in the midfield. Boehmcke controlled a game-high seven draws, while Baker added three draw controls to help the Eagles dictate possession. Martinez contributed four caused turnovers and two draw controls, while Lower chipped in two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sullivan led the team with five ground balls, and both Martinez and Boehmcke added four ground balls apiece.

Defensively, Husson limited Massachusetts Maritime to just five total shots and four shots on goal. Freshman Salin Bachor earned the win with one save in the first half, while sophomore Finley Pomerleau recorded two saves over the final 30 minutes.

The Eagles also excelled in transition, converting 12-of-15 clear attempts while holding the Buccaneers to just 9-of-33 on clears.

Husson returns to action on Saturday in its North Atlantic Conference opener against Thomas College, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Boucher Field.
