BANGOR, Maine – Ahead of its 2025 season-opener on Saturday at Framingham State University, the Husson University football team has named its captains for the upcoming season.
Seniors Max Clark, James Boyd and Jed Lober, in addition to sophomore Brayden Trombly have been selected as the four captains for the Eagles this year.
Clark is entering his second year as the starting quarterback for Husson and is a native of Bangor, Maine. Also a captain on last year's squad, Clark passed for more than 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns, while completing 60% of his passes and recording a 144.8 passer efficiency rating. Additionally, Clark set the single-game passing touchdown record against Nichols College on Oct. 19 with six touchdown passes.
Boyd, hailing from Corinna, Maine, is the second returning captain for the Eagles, playing in just four games last season before missing the season due to injury, but totaling 12 total tackles in those four games, including 1.5 tackles for loss. For his career, Boyd has recorded 23 tackles, including five tackles for loss and one sack.
Lober is entering his fourth year with the program and is from Westminster, Vermont. The running back played in 10 games for Husson last season, finishing second in the Conference of New England with 175 rushing attempts and 868 yards on the ground. Lober totaled nine rushing touchdowns, including tying the program single-game record with five house calls against Framingham State last year. A first team all-conference selection last season, Lober was named CNE player of the week once in the 2024 season.
A native of Hartford, Vermont, Trombly came out of the gates fast last year as a freshman for the Eagles, winning conference rookie of the week four times en route to winning CNE Rookie of the Year. Trombly placed fourth in the CNE with 75 total tackles, while ranking second in the league with 38 solo stops. Additionally, Trombly recorded two interceptions, six pass breakups and two tackles for loss, while being named as a second team all-conference honoree.
Husson will open its 2025 season on the road for the first two weeks, with trips to Framingham State and Springfield College set to begin the campaign.
