BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University men's basketball program added depth to its backcourt for the 25-26 season with the commitment of 6-1 guard Christian Smith from Miramar, Florida.
"Christian is a dynamic guard who makes things happen at both ends of the floor," says head coach Warren Caruso. "Christian is a tremendous athlete who does a good job at getting to his spot and impacts the game at both ends".
Christian has been playing varsity since the 8th grade and this year played at Somerset Academy Charter School for coach Lance Tejeda. Smith helped lead the Panthers to a 17-12 record and a District title. He averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on the year. Over his high school career, he has been a part of 3 district championships and won a state championship in 23-24 while playing at Pembroke Pines Charter. Smith played AAU for Florida Pro under the direction of coach Marcus Mcgee.
Smith joins Derrick Carroll from St. Pius X HS (Houston, TX), Pierce Walston from Orono High School (Orono, ME), Chris Leone of Cypress Bay HS (Weston, FL) and Adam Chaffin of Trevor Browne HS (Phoenix, AZ) in Husson's 2025 recruiting class.
Husson finished this season at 21-8 winning the NAC regular season and conference tournament titles. The Eagles have won back-to-back NAC titles and 10 out of the last 15. They advanced to the NCAA National Tournament losing to #19 WPI 81-71.
