PENFIELD, N.Y. — The Husson University men's golf team returned to competition on Tuesday in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship, hosted at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York.
The Eagles are tied for 27th overall after the first 18 holes, with graduate student
Max Woodman leading the team with a three-over-par 75, placing him in a tie for 53rd.
Graduate student
Jack King finished the opening round with a five-over-par 77, highlighted by a strong back nine in which he shot two-under-par. Fellow graduate student
Will Kavanaugh followed closely behind with a six-over-par 78, while graduate student
Chris Kauppila added an eight-over-par 80 to round out the Eagles' scoring.
Sophomore
Jace Cook also competed, carding a 16-over-par in the opening round.
Husson will aim to climb the leaderboard in the second round of the NCAA National Championship, teeing off at 7:45 a.m. as they look to make the cut.
