WATERVILLE, Maine — The Husson University women's outdoor track & field team finished third overall at the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday, while four Eagles tallied individual championship titles.
The Eagles finished with 151.5 points for the meet trailing the University of Maine at Farmington who captured the championship with 193, beating Thomas College by two points. Vermont State University Johnson finished fourth followed by Lesley University in fifth.
In the 100-meter final, sophomore
Niamiah Perry finished fifth with a time of 13.79, followed by Freshmen
Natasha Monreal and
Molly Dearborn who finished sixth and seventh with marks of 13.85 and 14.86, respectively.
Dearborn finished as the conference runner-up in the 200 meters, clocking a 28.65, while capturing the conference championship in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.40.
Sophomore
Olivia Underwood ran to a sixth-place performance in the 400 with a mark of 1:13.68 setting a new personal-best mark, while junior
Lexi Freeman posted a 1:16.64 to finish eighth.
Junior
Mackenzie Emerson clocked a 2:47.80 to finish fourth in the 800 meters, while Underwood posted a 3:05.16 for her second PR of the meet.
In the 1,500 meters, senior
Ava Dowling finished as the conference runner up, posting a time of 5:19.46, while Emerson finished fifth at 5:25.68, junior
Grace Bedore clocked a 5:28.64 to finish sixth and senior
Maddie Jackson posted a 7:03.34 to finish ninth.
Dowling also posted a fourth-place showing in the 5,000 meters, clocking a 20:26.12.
Freshman
Brooke Chase posted a time of 18.27 in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third overall, while Freeman finished fourth at 18.37 and Perry clocked an 18.72 to finish fifth.
Freeman added another top-five finish in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a mark of 1:22.38 finishing fourth, while junior
Nina Gregory tallied a 1:25.00 to finish fifth.
Dowling capped off her afternoon by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:59.44, while Bedore finished fourth in the event at 13:05.79.
The Eagles 4x100-meter relay team of Perry, Chase, Monreal and Dearborn finished as the conference runner up, clocking a 52.70, while Dearborn, Bedore, Emerson and Dowling finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:50.79.
In the high jump,
Nina Gregory cleared 1.56 meters to finish as the conference runner up.
Freeman tallied an impressive win in the pole value, clearing 3.00 meters — winning the event and breaking the program record of 2.90 meters. Freshman Bri Andrews cleared 2.20 meters in the pole vault to finish fifth — setting a new PR — while Gregory cleared 1.90 meters to finish seventh.
Monreal finished with a distance of 4.95 meters in the long jump to finish at the conference runner up, while Chase and Perry finished eighth and ninth, respectively with jumps of 4.21 and 4.03 meters.
Monreal and Chase finished fourth and fifth in the triple jump, Monreal cleared 10.07 meters and Chase posted a distance of 9.16 meters. Andrews and Gregory also finished top 10 in the event with marks of 8.84 meters and 7.94 meters, respectively.
In the shot put. Junior
Megan Fletcher finished fourth with a throw of 9.07 meters and freshman
Paige Chesbro threw 8.82 meters to finish seventh.
Chesbro added a fifth-place performance in the discus, throwing 29.35 meters, while freshman
Dani Espenscheid tallied a throw of 24.73 to finish seventh and Fletcher finished ninth at 23.73 meters.
Fletcher was crowned conference champion in the hammer throw, winning with a distance of 38.88 meters, while senior
Aaralyn Scroggins finished third at 35.29 meters, Chesbro finished sixth with a throw of 31.56 and sophomore Abbie Conlogue tallied a ninth-place showing with a distance of 28.70 meters.
Conlogue also finished third in the javelin, throwing 32.11 meters and Fletcher added another top-five finish with a distance of 23.83 meters.
Husson will now compete in the two-day New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
