Freeman, Fletcher earn individual championships on day one of NAC track & field championships

ORONO, Maine – The Husson University women's track & field team opened up the North Atlantic Conference Championship meet on Saturday at the New Balance Outdoor Track & Field Complex on the campus of the University of Maine at Orono and the Eagles earned two individual NAC titles.

Senior Lexi Freeman won her second-consecutive NAC title in the pole vault, as she cleared a height of 2.70 meters to take home the crown. Sophomore Brianna Andrews placed third in the event with a height of 2.55 meters, while freshmen Izzie Enos, Mya Madden and JaLynn Williams all finished tied for eighth at 1.80 meters.

Senior Megan Fletcher also successfully defended her NAC title from last year in the hammer throw, as she captured the crown with a throw of 42.04 meters. Sophomore Paige Chesbro recorded a third-place finish after a throw of 36.51 meters, while junior Abigail Conlogue took home sixth with a throw of 33.77 meters and sophomore Danlen Espenscheid placed 15th with a throw of 16.69 meters.

In the high jump, sophomore Natasha Monreal led a trio of Eagle competitors with a fourth-place leap of 1.48 meters. Williams secured fifth with a height of 1.43 meters and Madden followed one spot behind with a jump of 1.38 meters.

Husson looks to bring home more gold tomorrow with the second and final day of the NAC title meet in Orono.
