Jack King finished the opening round of the Farmingdale State College Spring Invitational two-under par as the Husson University men's golf team sits seventh overall.
The Eagles finished the opening round with an 11-over par 291, trailing No. 26 The University of Rochester who leads the tournament following a 282. Husson trails two top-20 teams and finished tied with Albright College.
King led the charge for the Eagles, carding an impressive opening round 68, trailing Luke Evans of Rochester by one stroke for the tournament podium.
Graduate student
Max Woodman finished with a two-over par 72 and sits tied for 14th, while graduate student
Chris Kauppila posted a three-over par 73.
Additionally, graduate student
Will Kavanaugh carded an eight-over par round and sophomore
Jace Cook finished at nine-over par following the opening round.
Husson will look to make up ground on Sunday when they return to the course for the final round of the FSU Spring Invitational.
