Husson Esports' Overwatch 2 Gold team defeated Elmira College in the finals of their ECAC league last night, becoming the first team in the history of Husson's esports program to win a championship in their respective league.
Husson defeated Elmira 4-2 in the finals in what was the team's toughest match of the semester. Both teams entered the match undefeated, with Husson having not dropped a map the entire season.
Husson and Elmira would trade maps to tie 2-2 through four maps before Husson won the final two maps, with Husson pulling off a massive comeback in the clinching game six victory to take home the ECAC championship for their league.
"I didn't want to believe it until we saw the victory screen," said team co-captain Ricky Orgill in a post-game interview during the live broadcast. "And I screamed my lungs out. I am super proud of Gold, proud of the way everyone played, it was a super close game, we're champions, I was super excited and overjoyed and just proud."
