Price elected to Maine Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023

CUMBERLAND, Maine — Former Husson University football coach and athletic director Gabby Price was selected to the Maine Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday. 
 
Price left a lasting impression during his time with the Eagles serving as the director of athletics and head football coach from 2004-08. He had two different stints with the Eagles as head football coach the first from 2002-2008 and the second from 2013-2018 retiring with 72 wins — the most in program history at the time of his selection. 
 
With the Eagles, Price coached 17 All-Americans, 13 major all-conference selections ranging from player of the year to rookie of the year and produced 74 all-conference players. Additionally, Price mentored 73 All-Academic team selections and three Cliff Harris Award finalists.
 
Price was named coach of the year an impressive four times and won five conference titles with the Eagles, made four NCAA tournament appearances and two Eastern College Athletic Conference Bowl Games. 
 
Prior to Husson, Price coach at nearby Bangor High School from 1973-75 as offensive coordinator and 1976-84 and 1992-00 as head coach winning Maine State Class A State Championships in 1979 and 1981 before helping Husson start its football program.
 
Price will be inducted in the Maine Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 29 at the Merrill Auditorium joining fellow Husson legends Clara Swan, Del Merrill, Bruce MacGregor, Jack Scott, Keith Mahoney and Thaxter Trafton.
