BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University softball team unveiled its 2023 spring schedule on Monday featuring 40 games, 12 of which will be played within the friendly confines of Robert & Frances O'Keefe Softball Field.

The Eagles open their season in Florida at the Spring Games on Mar. 4 with a doubleheader against Calvin University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, both of whom were ranked inside the top 10 of their respective regions.Â

Following Calvin and MSOE, Husson will play the University of Mount Union and Illinois College on Mar. 5 before battling the College of Saint Benedict and the University of Rochester on Mar. 6. Rochester finished the 2022 season ranked second in Region III, while Saint Benedict was ranked fourth in Region IX.Â

The Eagles final six games of their Florida trip come against the United States Coast Guard Academy and Gordon College on Mar. 7, followed by matchups against Kenyon College and Catholic University on Mar. 9 and ending with a doubleheader against York College of Pennsylvania and Misericordia University on Mar. 10.Â

Husson will then get a week off before returning south to battle defending NCAA Division III National Champion Christopher Newport University on Mar. 17 in a doubleheader followed by a doubleheader showdown with Virginia Wesleyan University on Mar. 18. Both programs have combined to win four out of the last five national championships with VWU winning titles in 2017, 2018 and 2021.Â

Following their trip to Virginia, the Eagles return back to Maine to face the University of New England in a doubleheader on Mar. 25, before opening the month of April with doubleheader matchups against Colby College on Apr. 2 and Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Apr. 5.Â

Husson will travel to Vermont for doubleheaders against Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Apr. 8 and Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Apr. 9 to open North Atlantic Conference play.Â

After Lyndon, the Eagles will play Plymouth State University at home on Apr. 13 as part of a 10-game home stand, featuring matchups against the University of Maine at Farmington on Apr. 15, the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Apr. 19, Thomas College on Apr. 22 and Bowdoin College on Apr. 23.

The Eagles will then travel to Presque Isle on Apr. 29 before closing out the 2023 regular season with a home matchup against Bates College on Apr. 30.Â
