Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Husson University men's lacrosse team dropped the final game of its spring break trip on Saturday 18-10 to Methodist University.
Methodist (5-3) got off to a strong start against Husson (3-6) jumping out to a 7-0 advantage in the opening quarter and adding a goal in the opening minute of the second quarter to take an 8-0 edge.
The Eagles matched goals with the Monarchs 4-to-4 in the second period to pull within 11-4 at the break as senior Gunner McAllister ended Methodist's run with a goal off an assist from senior Jacob Larochelle.
Senior Darryn Bailey found the back of the net for back-to-back Husson goals, this one from junior Matthew Boynton as both Bailey and McAllister would each score another goal in the second.
Senior Jaden Wells tallied his lone goal of the afternoon coming out of the half, but Methodist scored back-to-back goals to increase its advantage to 13-5 before McAllister ended the Monarchs run.
The Monarchs added one more score in the third quarter to carry a 14-6 edge heading into the final quarter as Husson pulled within 14-7 when senior Roman Dennis connected with the back of the nylon for his lone goal on the afternoon.
Both teams would trade goals over the final 14 minutes with McAllister and Bailey each scoring again, while sophomore Danny Carter scored off a pass from Boynton, but Methodist's 8-0 run to open the contest was too much for the Eagles to overcome.
Bailey finished with three goals on the afternoon, while McAllister added four and two assists. Senior Bryan Wagg tallied nine saves in net and Dennis finished a perfect 5-5 on faceoff attempts.
Husson now turns its attention to North Atlantic Conference play opening against SUNY Canton at home on Mar. 19 at 1 p.m.
