BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to the No. 22 Bowdoin Polar Bears on Wednesday night at Boucher Field in non-conference action.

The Polar Bears (7-1-1) came out on attack in the first half with the Eagles (6-3-2) finding limited chances as their best chance was midway through the first half when freshman Miguel Morales had a chance inside the box but fired his shot into the side netting.

Bowdoin fired shot after shot on goal and found the breakthrough in the 64th minute as Carlton Steinberg was able to fire one from outside the box. The Eagles pressed for the tying goal but Minseo Bae was able to put the game to bed in the 72nd minute as the Polar Bears won the contest 2-0.

Sophomore Alexander Rechsteiner kept the Eagles in the contest as he recorded a career high ten saves.

"I thought we were brilliant tonight," said head coach Gavin Penny. "We went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation and competed. I was pleased to see us getting stuck in, not backing off, and taking them on. Don't get me wrong, they are a very talented team, but I thought we held our own, and were very unfortunate to not get anything out of the game. They have scored two banging goals. They didn't break us down and on another day, we might have converted one of our chances and the outcome would have been different. I told the lads this has to be the standard. It was our best performance of the season and we have to be able to reproduce these performance levels against all opponents."

The men's soccer team will a couple days off before their longest trip of the season as they will take on Northern Vermont-Johnson on Saturday and SUNY Canton on Sunday with the Saturday contest taking place at 1:00 p.m.
