Box Score MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Husson University field hockey team traveled five hours south and picked up a 3-2 win for the Eagles over the Seahawks of Salve Regina. The non-conference victory makes the Eagles 4-5 on the season while the Seahawks drop to 8-5.
The Eagles got the scoring starting early as Adelle Foss and Leigha Carrier connected for the first goal of the game. The Seahawks made sure the game was tied at halftime with a goal at the beginning of the second quarter from Lex Purcell.
Salve Regina held the first lead of the game early in the second half as Eliza Timms scored her 16th goal of the season.
Husson scored twice in a nine minute span to take the lead back and for good as they won, 3-2. Ryley Newcomb scored her first of the season then Foss added her 11th goal of the season and second of the game for the game-winner with an assist credited to Rylee Poulin for her first collegiate point.
The Eagles outshot the Seahawks, 10-4, and penalty corners, 11-4, in the victory.
It is back to conference play on Tuesday, October 19th, when they visit the Beavers of UMaine-Farmington at Prescott Field. Game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
