DUDLEY, Mass. - The Husson Eagles (3-5, 3-2 CCC Football) took down the Bison (5-3, 3-2 CCC Football) of Nichols College in the confines of Vendetti Field on Saturday; the final score, 31-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The Eagles received the ball first, moving downfield methodically for a 14-play, 77-yard drive that took almost eight minutes off the clock. Keyshawn Robinson gave the Eagles a 7-0 advantage on a 3-yard touchdown run. After a Bison punt, the Eagles were also forced to punt on 4th-and-5, but defensive back Brandon Williams forced and recovered a fumble from Bison returner Kevin Diaz, recovering the ball for Husson at the Nichols' 30-yard line. Despite a 4th-and-9 completion by David Morrison to Tyler Halls, the Eagles were unable to punch it in for a touchdown, settling for a 24-yard field goal by Devin Pickett. This extended Husson's lead to 10-0. 

Possession switched hands multiple times following the field goal, with three straight drives ending via punts. Backed up with a 3rd-and-25 at their own 29-yard line, the Eagles struck with a Morrison pass complete to Halls for a 42-yard conversion - however, the drive would end unfavorably for Husson as Morrison was intercepted in the end zone on 4th-and-11 by Bison defensive back Dylan McNamara.

The Bison were able to take advantage of McNamara's turnover, with multiple defensive pass interference calls on Husson enabling Nichols' quarterback Michael Pina to hit Diaz for a 21-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the Eagle lead to 10-7 at the half.

It was all Husson in the second half; more specifically, the connection between Morrison and Halls as they found paydirt three times en route to a career day for Halls. Touchdowns of 63, 16 and 21 yards between the two added to a 219 receiving yard day for Halls, a career best. These three scores were made possible due to two forced fumbles from Frank Curran, which helped propel Husson to a 31-7 conference victory on the road.

TEAM LEADERS:

For Husson, Morrison completed 14-of-24 passes for 256 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Shawn Noel Jr. rushed for 124 yards on 34 carries, good for his fourth straight 100-yard game. Robinson added 44 yards and a score on eight carries. Halls had a monster day, catching 11 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns. It was Halls' second career game with 10 or more receptions (caught 13 passes at UMass Dartmouth earlier this season). He passed the 1,000 receiving yard milestone, becoming the fourth receiver in program history to do so. Halls also is the second receiver in program history to record a 200-yard receiving game (Kyle Gaudet holds the single-game record at 249, which was against Gallaudet in 2018). Defensively, Kaleb Caron recovered a fumble and notched seven total tackles, including a half-sack. David Redmond added six total tackles (2.5 for loss), notching two sacks and a forced fumble. Williams was in on five total tackles, breaking up two passes, forcing a fumble and recovering two fumbles. Curran notched four total tackles, 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Pickett also became the highest-scoring kicker in program history (135 total points), and currently sits at fifth overall for most points scored.

For the Bison, Pina completed 16-of-31 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Joshua Pierre-Charles rushed eight times for 27 yards. Hunter Ferriera caught five passes for 46 yards. Diaz caught the lone Bison touchdown of the day for 21 yards, which was also his only catch. Defensively, Chris Lawrence tallied 12 total tackles (two for loss). Michael Spraulding and Joe Cox each added 10 tackles of their own, combining for three tackles for loss. McNamara accrued five tackles (0.5 for loss) and the lone interception of the game.
