Box Score BANGOR, MAINE - The Husson University men's basketball team (14-4, 10-1 NAC) defeated Castleton University (9-9, 6-5 NAC), 90-69, in a conference matchup on Friday evening in Newman Gymnasium.
THE STORY:
After trailing 6-0 in the first minutes of the game, Husson took their first lead of the game (12-10) in the 7th minute with a jump shot by freshman guard DJ Bussey. The Eagles pushed forward to take a 13 point lead, 25-22, with five minutes to go in the first half of the game. Castleton's offense struggled to push forward while Husson continued to put up a strong defense.
Following a missed jump shot, freshman guard Cole Thomas grabbed an offensive rebound and layup to beat the buzzer. Husson held a 10-point advantage going into the locker room. Thomas tallied 16 points in the first half of the game.
In under five minutes, the Eagles ran a strong offense, going on a 16-0 run, to quickly bring the game to 19-points. With 13:47 remaining on the clock, Husson led 61-35. Just a minute later, two back-to-back, three point shots by senior guard Raheem Anderson brought the game to a 32 point lead.
Castleton tightened the Husson lead to 23 points with 7:36 remaining in the game. Both teams continued to swap baskets for the remainder of the game while the Eagles soared to a 90-69 win over the Spartans.
Husson's largest lead of the game was 34 points with 12:05 remaining in the second half of the game.
LEADERS - HUSSON:

Senior guard Raheem Anderson tallied a game high of 18 points, two rebounds, three steals and went 100% from the three-point line.

Freshman guard Cole Thomas recorded 16 points, four rebounds and three steals.

Sophomore forward Babafemi Onigbanjo contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and one steal.
LEADERS - CASTLETON:

Senior guard Tondi Mushandu recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and shot 3-4 from the charity strip.

Sophomore forward Josh Hanson tallied 10 points, four rebounds and one block.

Freshman guard Denis LeCours contributed nine points and one rebound.
TEAM STATS:
Husson held the advantage in rebounds (50-37), assists (17-11) and points off turnoers (19-15). Castleton edged the Eagles in bench points (37-33) and free throw % (69.6%, 52.9%).
